“When I came to Tokyo for the first time, that’s when I started really getting into fashion,” said Naomi Osaka before representing Japan in the Summer Olympics 2020. Fast forward five years and her love for fashion is stronger than ever.
Recently, the 4-time slam winner’s fashion sense received the approval of a former WTA world No. 1. And, this endorsement has sparked enthusiasm among her fans, highlighting Osaka’s undeniable influence in the world of tennis!
Osaka has consistently wowed the tennis fraternity with her impeccable fashion sense, both on and off the 27-foot court. Take, for instance, her first-round match at the U.S. Open last year.
She dominated Jelena Ostapenko and stole the spotlight with a striking green dress featuring a shiny bow and four tiers of ruffles. And who could forget her stunning appearance at the 2021 Met Gala, aka, fashion’s biggest night of the year?
Naomi turned heads in a custom ‘corseted’ dress with a silk-mix ruffled cape, designed by her sister Mari as a digital watercolor art piece. The inclusion of a particular Koi fish symbolized their Japanese heritage, making it even more special for the audience.
And, now, Naomi’s fashion prowess has caught the attention of none other than a seven-time GS winner, who has showered her with praise. Why? You guessed it right: because of her fabulous fashion choices once again!
In a recent Instagram post, Osaka gave fans a glimpse into her unique fashion style, showcasing some of her favorite outfits from last year.
The caption of the post read, “Mini Outfit recap 24: mirror selfie edition (a little late).” And, guess who added her remarks in the comment section. It was the seven-time GS champion Venus Williams who wrote, “Approved ✅✅🔥🔥🔥🙌.”

Naomi Osaka demonstrated her love for experimenting with textures, prints, colors, and silhouettes in her stylish mirror selfie. One standout look featured the Japanese in a black button-down long top paired with ‘cargo denim’ pants and heels, effortlessly blending casual and chic.
To tie it all together, she accessorized with a Louis Vuitton denim handbag and a blue cap, giving the outfit a polished, cohesive feel as well.
Venus Williams, who played only 2 tournaments last year (Indian Wells Open and Miami Open) has also been a fashion icon in her own rights. The owner of EleVen never really disappoints her fans with her fashion sense.
Take last year, for example, when the 44-year-old tennis legend showed off her dance skills on social media while wearing a white mesh shirt and gray shorts with white sneakers on the beach.
“Bringing the beach vibes☀️✨ #DancingWithVenus,” she wrote in the caption. Even in the Paris Fashion Week in October 2024, she wore a ‘yellow-colored’ flare attire and shared her picture on her Instagram story while adding, “Just being extra… again. The dress just gave me vibes!”
As for Osaka, she has certainly been on fire with her recent fashion flair on Instagram, continuing to showcase her impeccable style. But that’s not all; the Japanese also made headlines recently for her in-court presence, announcing her participation in a historic event that has fans buzzing in the tennis fraternity.
Naomi Osaka is the first female player to be confirmed for the HSBC Championships
It’s been a rough start to the 2025 season for Naomi Osaka. After a disappointing run at the ASB Classic, where she missed out on a golden opportunity to claim a title early in the season because of back pain, her AO campaign also ended in a dramatic setback.
Despite a strong start, where she dominated ‘Caroline Garcia’ in the 1st round and crushed ‘Karolina Muchova’ in the 2nd, the Japanese star was forced to withdraw from her R3 match against the Swiss, Belinda Bencic, after losing the first set, owing to the same back injury that had troubled her in New Zealand.
Despite the setbacks, Osaka has recently made a historic move in the WTA Tour, making headlines as the first player confirmed for the women’s event at the ‘HSBC Championships this summer. But why is this such a big deal?
Well, for the first time in over 50 years, the Queens of Tennis will return to Queen’s for a WTA 500 event, marking a significant milestone in women’s tennis, as well as WTA events. And it seems like Naomi is already feeling the excitement, ready to make her mark at this landmark event on her on-court return in June!
“To be a part of the first women’s event at the LTA’s HSBC Championships in over 50 years is exciting and something that makes me incredibly proud. It’s very special to compete at a historic venue like The Queen’s Club, and with the strength of the women’s game right now, it’s going to be a fantastic event. I feel great in my game. I’m looking forward to the challenge and I will give everything to lift that title this summer,” Osaka said.
