Serena Williams was strutting her stuff at the Super Bowl.
Serena Williams made a cameo appearance at the Super Bowl during the halftime show, where she appeared alongside Kendrick Lamar and danced along to his music.
The tennis superstar came out doing a ‘Crip walk’, a dance made popular by Henry ‘Crip’ Heard, a Harlem dancer who lost an arm and leg in a car accident.
The dance was picked up by The Crips, a group of California street gangs, and Williams performed the dance before at Wimbledon in 2012 when she won Olympic gold which draw a significant backlash at the time.
Performing it again at the Super Bowl has rather disappointingly raised a few comments against her with some people unhappy that she was dancing along to ‘Not Like Us’, a song about Drake.
Drake has made numerous references to Serena Williams in his music, and has said that his song ‘Too Good’ was about ‘me and Serena’, and the pair are rumoured to have dated between 2011 and 2015.
Speaking after her dance at the Super Bowl she said: “Man I did not crip walk like that at Wimbledon, I would’ve been fined.”
Her husband Alexis Ohanian was ready to bat away any criticism coming her way this time, sharing screenshots of some of the things people had said about Serena in the past.

He wrote: “Some of y’all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago, and it shows… This is bigger than the music.”
Ohanian shared screenshots from a sports commentator who said that back in 2012 Williams ‘deserved to be criticised’ and tried to claim that Williams dancing at Wimbledon was ‘akin to cracking a tasteless, X-rated joke inside a church’.
He also posted a clip of Samuel L. Jackson dressed as Uncle Sam during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show where he shouted ‘Oh no, no! Too loud! Too reckless! Too… ghetto’.

Ohanian then posted another clip from the halftime show captioned ‘meanwhile, let ’em dance’.
It seems that he’s in no mood for people’s bulls**t over his wife’s appearance at the Super Bowl and her dancing on stage.
Among the comments from viewers are that ‘Kendrick getting Serena Williams to crip walk while performing ‘Not Like Us’ is nasty work’, though others said it was ‘a wild flex by Kendrick’ to get the tennis star dancing on stage while he sung about Drake.
During his song Kendrick left out his most controversial lyric about Drake and had the Super Bowl crowd to sing it for him.
Drake has denied the allegations made against him.
