Serena Williams Turns Back Time as She Celebrates Iconic Olympics Moment With Sister Venus in a Nostalgic Tribute

Serena Williams and Venus Williams are figures that are synonymous with greatness. These legendary sisters didn’t just dominate tennis; they redefined the sport, paving the way for generations to come.

Their unmatched athletic prowess and iconic sibling rivalry turned them into household names, inspiring millions around the globe.

Even now, with Serena stepping away from professional tennis and Venus taking an extended hiatus, the Williams sisters continue to make headlines, as they remain a source of celebration.

Recently, Serena shared a heartfelt reaction to one such moment that reminded everyone why the Williams legacy is eternal.

The American tennis sensation took to her Instagram story to reshare a post by Juegos Olimpicos, which highlights a list of players who achieved immense success in their lives.

“Before becoming superstars: Athletes who became Olympic legends 📸🌟,” the post read, as it shared the pictures of star athletes like Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, and the Williams sisters. And guess what, Serena was quick to notice this!

Taking to her story, the 43-year-old shared the post and tagged her elder sister.

In the picture that dates back to their childhood, the Williams sisters were seen standing together in white attires designed for the Olympics, holding a racquet in their hands and sharing a broad smile as they posed for the camera.

Sharing a short but heartfelt reaction, the younger Williams sister wrote, “❤️” signifying her pride in the milestones achieved by them. But she wasn’t the only one celebrating!

Her older sister, Venus, also re-shared Serena’s story to her own account and captioned it, “Sister love ❤️.” For the unversed, both Serena Williams and Venus Williams have 4 Olympic Gold medals each in their arsenal.

Three of these medals came in the doubles category in 2000, 2008, and 2012, where the sisters played alongside each other.

Besides, Venus also boasts a silver medal that she clinched in the mixed doubles category in 2016. However, this is not the first time when the sisters have reminisced about their Olympic journey together.

In May last year, Venus took to her Instagram account and shared a tribute post that was originally put up by the official account of the Olympics, detailing their Gold medal win in the 2012 London Games.

Captioning it, she exuded her love for her partnership with Serena and wrote “What a match! That backhand crossing volley: is my least fave shot in doubles. But I had to help the team. So I did it. I always say the Olympic spirit moved me! And of course playing with the best server.”

It is probably because of such memorable moments that the bond between the sisters has only grown stronger enough – a bond that was wrought by their father’s interminable efforts since they were young.

In fact, their meteoric rise to and consistency at the top of the world rankings, was never a solitary journey – they always had each other to bank on, even as they played on opposing sides of the net.

To Rick Macci, Venus perhaps put it best: “We were almost brainwashed to think we were going to be number one.” Even at the apex of the sport, “we” – the both of them – were built to be together. And that love has defined their careers and beyond.

When Serena Williams shared heartfelt reaction to elder sister’s accomplishment

“There is no Venus without Serena and Serena without Venus!” These were the famous words of Venus Williams that she once shared expressing her admiration for her younger sister.

The pair have lived by this mantra throughout their lives; one such adorable moment came in October last year when the elder sister decided to walk down memory lane.

Taking to her Instagram account, Venus Williams shared a string of pictures from her professional debut. She captioned it saying, “30 years ago today, I stepped on the court for my pro debut! 🙏🎾✨

In the picture, the then 14-year-old Williams was seen signing autographs after winning her first-round match against former NCAA singles champion Shaun Stafford at the Silicon Valley Classic in Oakland. This post did not go unnoticed by Serena.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion was quick to reshare her sister’s nostalgic moment and shared a heartfelt reaction as she wrote, “@venuswilliams 💕💕” Now, as time evolves, fans eagerly await more such sweet memories of the sisters reflecting on how their journeys in tennis once looked like.
